Halfpenny joins team at Ty Hafan.

INTERNATIONAL rugby star Leigh Halfpenny has become an ambassador for Ty Hafan.

The 24 year-old, who was this week crowned Best Player in the World at the annual Oscars Midi Olympique in Paris, joins a growing list of Ty Hafan celebrity ambassadors, including actor John Barrowman, presenter Lucy Owen and cricketer Mark Wallace.

The RBS Player of the Championship & British & Irish Lions HSBC Player of the Series chose to support the children's hospice because he wanted to support a Welsh charity close to his heart.

Leigh, pictured, said: "It's a huge honour to be named as an ambassador for such a fantastic charity like TyHafan. Their care and support makes a huge difference to many people and I'm extremely proud to support the work they do."

Ray Hurcombe, Ty Hafan's chief executive, said: "We are delighted to have Leigh on board. His involvement will raise the profile of Ty Hafan which will help us continue to provide care and support to an increasing number of life-limited, children and their families from across Wales."
