Hajj Hassan sponsors Book of Food symposium at MoA.

NNA - The Ministry of Agriculture organized on Wednesday a symposium on the Book of Food (Codex Alimentarius) funded by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), under the auspices of caretaker Minister of Agriculture, Hussein Hajj Hassan.

The Minister stressed in his word that "This meeting was about presenting the Codex Alimentarius that brings us together, public and private institutions." "We live in a small country, in terms of both size of production and influence. We cannot expect to be a key player in the Codex Alimentarius, but we also must not think that we have no role in it," the Minister said.

"Our aspiration for Lebanon is to have the criteria that meet international standards. We are taking decisions in the field of food, animals and plants at the highest international levels. Our imports meet the international standards, and our exports aspire to be so," he asserted, stressing the need to preserve the geographic properties.
