Hair we go.

Byline: By Michael Young The Evening Chronicle

Coming up to holiday time, you need to prepare to care for your hair by packing the right products.

Here are the musts to ensure you don't have bad hair days:

We're not talking about any old shampoo. You have to take into consideration that if you're going somewhere hot, your hair will be exposed to sun so you will need a shampoo to protect and act as an after-sun protector. Ask your hairdresser for advice.

You'll probably need a different conditioner from your usual one. It needs to be thick enough to leave a slight trace on the surface of your hair - again for protection.

Spray conditioner:

This is a very important holiday product because it works throughout the day. Just keep it with you and spray all the way through your hair, providing it with a sun barrier.

Conditioning treatment:

You can get these in handy sachets. When you're on holiday you're obviously intent on enjoying yourself but if you've got a little spare time then do try to use a conditioning treatment. Even once on your holiday would be beneficial. Wash your hair as normal and apply the treatment after you've shampooed. Leave it on for at least 15 minutes before rinsing.

This is another invaluable product. It's oil-based but not greasy as long as you only use a small amount. It's important if you use a dryer on your hair because it gives protection against the heat and also adds moisture. Apply root to tip but only use the excess left on your hands after smoothing it on the lengths. Apply before drying and use a small amount afterwards.
