Up to 40mm of rain could fall in places tpoday as well as hail as the Met Office issues an urgent yellow level weather warning for parts of the country.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of severe rain for parts of the UK which will come into force on Monday morning and last through to tonight.
The warning was issued in the early hours of Monday morning and forecasts heavy rain, hail and lightning.
The forecasters say some area could see up up 40mm of rain in three hours when the warning is is force, between 10am and 8pm tonight.
The warning covers much of the South West and South Wales, and reads: "An area of heavy rain will turn more showery later this morning, with a risk of thunderstorms developing, which may be slow-moving in some places.
"Heavy showers and thunderstorms clearing away southwards early evening. 15-20 mm of rain could fall within an hour and 30-40 mm within 3-4 hours in a few places. Lightning and hail are also possible."
