Hafslund ASA acquires Viken Fjernvarme AS.

NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-4 July 2006-Hafslund ASA acquires Viken Fjernvarme AS(C)1994-2006 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The Norwegian electricity and security group Hafslund ASA said on Tuesday (4 July) that it has agreed to acquires the outstanding 67% of the shares of district heating company Viken Fjernvarme AS from the city of Oslo, Norway.

The purchase price is approximately NOK2bn.

As part of the agreement between Hafslund and the city of Oslo, Viken Fjernvarme will increase its purchases of heat from the city's recovery facilities and will also build a new connection line to the centre of the city.

One Norwegian krone (NOK) is worth approximately 0.09 British pounds (GBP).
