Haddadi can't leave Iran.

Hamed Haddadi, the Iranian center for the Memphis Grizzlies professional basketball team, is being detained in Iran with some sort of legal trouble.

The Grizzlies' training camp opened last week, but Haddadi was not in attendance, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported.

It quoted team manager Chris Wallace as saying Haddadi was being detained in Iran due to a legal issue.

Wallace did not appear to be concerned, saying that Haddadi could arrive in Memphis any day.

There was no explanation of what kind of legal issue Haddadi was facing.

The Grizzlies first pre-season game was Wednesday night. The season opens October 27.
