HYUNDAI ANNOUNCES 1993 PRICES

 HYUNDAI ANNOUNCES 1993 PRICES
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Motor

America today released pricing for its 1993 line-up. On an equipment-adjusted basis, the average increase for all carlines is a prudent 2.0 percent.
"An excessive economic adjustment would not be an appropriate move in an already crowded automotive marketplace in this economic climate. This is why Hyundai gave only a negligible increase to cover costs, in order to maintain Hyundai's competitive market position," said Rod Hayden, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
The 1993 Excel Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for Hyundai's popular subcompact will be priced from $6,799 for the 3-door, 4-speed manual hatchback to $9,174 for the 4-door, 4-speed automatic sedan GL. This is a 2.0-percent increase on a mix- weighted basis over the 1992 price.
The sporty Scoupe comes in a turbo version for 1993 with a MSRP starting at $9,069 for the 2-door, 5-speed manual Scoupe to $10,999 for the 2-door, 5-speed manual Scoupe Turbo. This features a mix- weighted increase of 2.2 percent over the 1992 models.
For 1993, the Elantra's MSRP begins at $8,999 for the 4-door sedan with a 1.6-liter engine and 5-speed manual with the top MSRP at $10,999 for the 4-door sedan GLS with a 1.8-liter engine and 4-speed automatic. On a comparative basis, this is an equipment-adjusted increase of 2.0 percent over the 1992 models.
 Hyundai's top-of-the-line, roomy Sonata is priced from $12,399 MSRP for a 4-door sedan, 5-speed manual to $15,339 for a 4-door sedan GLS V-6 with a 4-speed automatic. The equipment-adjusted increase for 1993 is about 3.1 percent.
Option packages are available for all models. The destination freight charge is $405 on all vehicles.
