HYDRO-QUEBEC LAUNCHES $1 BILLION CANADIAN DOLLAR GLOBAL ISSUE

 MONTREAL, Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Hydro-Quebec announces that it has negotiated a new financing on the world market for 1 billion Canadian dollars. This is the fourth Hydro-Quebec global issue.
 The new debentures, guaranteed by the Province de Quebec, dated Jan. 25, 1994, will mature June 1, 2004 and will not be callable before maturity.
 They will bear interest at 7 percent, payable semi-annually.
 The debentures were initially offered at 98.338 to yield 7.229 percent on a semi-annual basis.
 The debentures, series IM, will be distributed simultaneously on the Canadian, European, Asian and American markets by an international group of underwriters and selling group members.
 Merrill Lynch International Limited and Scotia McLeod Inc. will be joint book runners for the issue. The other co-leads of the transaction will be Levesque Beaubien Geoffrion Inc., Wood Gundy Inc. and Yamaichi International (Europe) Limited.
