HUMANA DIRECTORS ELECT IRWIN LERNER TO BOARD

 LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ --- Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today that Irwin Lerner, former chairman of Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., was elected to its board of directors.
 Mr. Lerner recently retired as Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., the New Jersey-based pharmaceutical/health care company. Affiliated with Roche for over thirty-one years, Mr. Lerner led the company as its President and Chief Executive Officer from 1980 to 1992, a period of exceptional growth.
 A director of Public Service Enterprise Group and its wholly-owned subsidiary company, Public Service Electric and Gas Company, Mr. Lerner also serves on the boards of the World Rehabilitation Fund, Project Hope and the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce.
 Mr. Lerner received his bachelor of science and masters of business administration degrees from Rutgers University. He is a member of the Rutgers University Board of Trustees, Rutgers University Foundation and the Dean's Advisory Council of the Rutgers Graduate School of Management.
 Based in Louisville, Kentucky, Humana provides managed care health plan services to over 1.6 million members through the operation of health maintenance organizations and preferred provider organizations.
