HUGHES AIRCRAFT COMPANY HOLDS FOURTH ANNUAL TECHNOLOGY UPDATE PROGRAM
 Hughes Aircraft Company will hold its fourth annual Hughes technology update program on Wednesday, May 13, in the main lounge of the National Press Club, 14th and F streets, N.W., Washington, starting at 9 a.m.
 Four presentations are scheduled designed to convey newsworthy developments in technology to correspondents who cover defense, aerospace, electronics, telecommunications and technology trends.
 A continental breakfast is at 8:30 a.m., followed by the presentations and a buffet lunch.

 HUGHES TECHNOLOGY UPDATE PRESENTATIONS
 -- Thermal Imaging technology and applications, with emphasis on
 second generation technology such as that employed in the
 Second Generation Tank Sight, will be presented by Bob
 Sendall of Hughes Electro-Optical Data Systems Group. He
 will describe the enabling technologies for major
 improvements in IR (thermal imaging) systems. The
 technology, motivation, performance, and a few representative
 applications will be discussed. Both missile and FLIR
 advanced applications will be covered.
 -- The technology and applications associated with solid state
 microwave devices will be the subject of a presentation by
 Dr. Gene Gregory of Hughes Radar Systems Group.
 -- Dr. Harry King of Hughes Power Control Systems will discuss
 company efforts to design and produce the power electronics
 system for the General Motors Impact electric vehicle.
 -- Dr. Arunas Slekys of Hughes Network Systems will discuss the
 HNS-developed Extended Time Division Multiple Access (E-TDMA)
 Wireless Communication System for high-capacity, low-cost
 digital cellular and wireless telephony.
