HUGH HEFNER TO ATTEND CHICAGO FILM FESTIVAL PREMIERE OF LYNCH/FROST
BIOGRAPHY: 'HUGH HEFNER: ONCE UPON A TIME' PREMIERES OCT. 14
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Playboy magazine founder Hugh M. Hefner left Los Angeles today to return home to his native Chicago for the 28th Chicago International Film Festival premiere of "Hugh Hefner: Once Upon A Time," the first feature film biography of the internationally renowned publisher.
The film, a 90-minute biography from Lynch/Frost Productions (creators of the ground-breaking television series "Twin Peaks"), produced by Gary Grossman and Robert Heath and directed by Heath, will premiere Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at Loews Pipers Alley Theater, North Avenue at Wells, Chicago. The films is scheduled for a Nov. 13 commercial release in Los Angeles.
Hefner rarely leaves his Playboy Mansion home in Holmby Hills community of West Los Angeles. He last traveled to Chicago, where he founded what would become the Playboy Enterprises Inc. international corporation, in 1985 to visit the sites of his childhood in preparation for writing his autobiography, a project now in the works and well along toward completion.
Utilizing rare, exclusive photos and never-before-seen video and film footage, "Hugh Hefner: Once Upon A Time" traces Hefner's life beginning with his Midwestern childhood through the founding and early years of Playboy magazine and Hefner's permanent move to Los Angeles and Playboy Mansion West in 1975. Behind-the-scenes views of its various businesses uniquely document Playboy's growth and expansion into a global entertainment company.
Detailing the triumphs, tragedies and controversies that have surrounded the man the Times of London ranked as one of the century's most influential people, the biography also tells the story of Hefner's 1985 stroke, his marriage to Playmate of the Year Kimberley Conrad in 1989 and the birth of their two young sons, Marston and Cooper.
Hefner plans to spend the time preceding the premiere revisiting the people and places of the city where his vision for Playboy took shape, including a visit to Playboy's new corporate headquarters at 680 N. Lake Shore Drive.
Hefner continues to serve as editor-in-chief of Playboy and chairman emeritus of Playboy Enterprises Inc. His daughter, Christie Hefner, was named company chairman and chief executive officer in 1988.
