HUGH'S pounds 1m PHONE DEAL.

Toff comic Hugh Laurie has signed a pounds 1million deal with BT to replace Bob Hoskins in its "Good to talk" TV ads.

The Cambridge graduate has been told to take the hit adverts upmarket.

He said: "Stepping into Bob's shoes is some challenge. He may be short - but his feet are huge."

Hoskins filmed 51 ads before quitting the job, claiming he was being driven mad by people stopping him in the street to tell him "It's Good To Talk."

A BT spokesman said: "The ads will put Hugh in funny new situations. In one, he is stuck in a family row when he tells them, `It's good to listen as well!'"
