JACK GREALISH has paid tribute to "legendary" Andriy Shevchenko after the Ukraine manager's classy touch.
Shevchenko, one of the world's greatest-ever strikers, made a point of congratulating, hugging and offering some poignant words to England's stars even though they had just thrashed his team in the quarter-finals.
Shevchenko hugged Grealish (above), along with England teammates Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount, at the final whistle.
It was a great gesture, spotted by a lot of England fans, as well as recognised by Grealish and appreciated also by the entire England squad as he wished Gareth Southgate's players well for the rest of the tournament.
Grealish wrote on social media: "Thank you for the nice words legend! What a player he was and what a man!"
Shevchenko was Ukraine's greatest-ever player, who enjoyed incredible success in Italy with AC Milan and was also well-known to English fans after his time at Chelsea.
But now he will be remembered even more fondly after his behaviour at the end of the game in Rome at what must have been a heartbreaking moment for him personally.
AND THANKS Shevchenko gets a hug from Raheem Sterling, Gareth Southgate, Harry Kane, Mason Mount and Jordan Henderson
