HUFFMAN KOOS INC. REPORTS RESULTS

 RIVER EDGE, N.J., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Huffman Koos Inc. (NASDAQ: HUFK), a leading furniture retailer reported net income of $679,000 or $.17 per share for the second quarter ended July 31, 1993, as opposed to a net loss of $(294,000) or $(.07) per share in the same period last year. Sales increased 26.9 percent to $24,853,000 versus $19,588,000 in the prior year period. Same store sales increased $3,800,000 or 19.2 percent.
 For the six months ended July 31, 1993, net sales totaled $44,576,000 versus $39,340,000 in the same period last year, or an increase of 13.3 percent. The company reported a year-to-date net profit of $592,000 or $.15 per share, as opposed to a net loss of $(598,000) or $(.15) per share, in the prior year.
 Operating profits and sales were favorably impacted by the new Farmingdale, Long Island, store which was opened on Aug. 15, 1992, and the remodeling of the Totowa store which reopened in May 1993. In addition, significant sales increases were experienced at the East Brunswick store which was remodeled in the prior year, and also at the flagship store located in River Edge, N.J.
 Sales in the third quarter have been excellent and management is optimistic about the second half of the year.
 The opening of the newest store located in Wall Township, N.J., will occur approximately Nov. 1, expanding the company's presence in the southern portion of the state.
 Huffman Koos is a full service retailer of high quality furniture and accessories which presently operates 11 stores in the New Jersey/New York area.
