HUDSON SOFT'S 'BILL LAIMBEER'S COMBAT BASKETBALL' FOR
NINTENDO SUPER NES HITS STORES THANKSGIVING WEEK
First Basketball Game Available for Super NES
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- "Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball," the first basketball game available for Nintendo's fast- selling, 16-bit Super NES entertainment system, hits consumer retail outlets tomorrow, just in time for Thanksgiving weekend holiday shopping.
Developed by South San Francisco-based Hudson Soft USA, the futuristic video game parodies the Detroit Piston superstar's aggressive court style and his reputation as the legendary "bad boy" of professional basketball.
"In 'Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball,' the year is 2030 and Laimbeer has been elected commissioner of professional basketball," said Hudson Soft USA Marketing Manager Kevin Sullivan. "His first official action is to fire all the referees and suspend all rules against fouls. The result? An action-packed battle between armored players that gives new meaning to the phrase 'contact sport.'"
Suggested retail price of "Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball" is $59.95.
Hudson Soft USA Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of software and game publisher Hudson Soft Co. Ltd. of Sapporo, Japan. The parent company was the first developer to be licensed for Nintendo's 8-bit NES system. Hudson Soft games popular in the United States include the Adventure Island series, Atomic Punk, and Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu.
