HUDSON FOODS, INC. COMPLETES ACQUISITION
HUDSON FOODS, INC. COMPLETES ACQUISITION ROGERS, Ark., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Hudson Foods, Inc.
(NYSE: HFI) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of the Powell Valley Foods facility in Caryville, Tenn., from Kraft General Foods, Inc. Kraft is a wholly owned subsidiary of Philip Morris Companies, Inc. (NYSE: MO). Terms were not disclosed.
The facility, which will be part of Hudson's Pierre Frozen Foods division, will produce sandwiches and frozen, portion-control, fried and flame-broiled meat and poultry products for distribution to Pierre's national food service customers. Hudson Foods expects expanded production at the Caryville facility, which will begin this month, to help sustain the dramatic sales growth that the Pierre division has enjoyed over the past few years. Michael T. Hudson, Hudson Foods president and chief operating officer, said this a very positive step for the entire Hudson Foods family. "This latest acquisition continues to exemplify the growth of our company. We are very pleased about today's move. We feel it will bring great rewards to the company as a whole."
