HSGPC postpones first meet.

THE HARYANA Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee on Tuesday postponed its maiden meeting which was scheduled to be held at Gurudwara Manji Sahab in Kaithal till Thursday ( July 31), HSGPC sources told M AIL T ODAY . HSGPC president Jagdish Singh Jhinda, executive committee members Sant Gurmit Singh, Avtar Singh Chakku and Majit Singh besides Joga Singh , Sarjit Singh and Apr Singh were present at the venue but the meeting did not take place. There were speculations that some HSGPC members are not happy with the nominations and boycotted the meeting.

However, a spokesperson later said that the meeting was postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.

" The meeting has been postponed due to the demise of a relative of senior vice president Didar Singh Nalvi," HSGPC general secretary Joga Singh said.

HSGPC general secretary said that HSGPC will write to the Union Home Ministry, urging it to work out a separate quota for Sikh pligrims from Haryana visiting Gurdwaras in Pakistan.

Earlier on Monday, HSGPC head Jagdish Singh Jhinda and ten HSGPC members visited Golden Temple complex and paid obeisance at the Harmandar Sahib sanctum sanctorum.

They were not allowed to enter the Akal Takht as Jhinda has been excommunicated.

HSGPC members did not meet Akal Takht Jathedar Gurbachan Singh who had ordered cancellation of Sikh conventions besidesrestraining HSGPC from functioning.

In another development the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday refused to put stay on the HSGPC and issued notices to all the parties related to HSGPC i. e. Union government, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, SGPC, Haryana SGPC and Chandigarh administration and has asked all the parties to file their replies by September 5, 2014.
