THE HSE last night dismissed claims it took 45 minutes to reach the
scene. Health Minister James Reilly said a trained paramedic was there
within seven minutes and an ambulance after 19 minutes. The HSE
statement said: "The National Ambulance Service Control Centre was
notified at 6.40pm. It processed the 999 emergency call and the nearest
available emergency ambulance was allocated to the call. "This
ambulance and crew arrived at the scene in Midleton at 6.59pm. Total
response time of 19 minutes. "As is standard practice, first
responder text alerts were automatically sent by Ambulance Control and a
local first responder [who was also an off-duty HSE advanced paramedic]
arrived at scene at 6.47pm. Total response time of seven minutes."
