HSBC India (LSE: HSBA) has launched a card-protection plan in India.

The bank said that it has launched a card protection plan in association with CPP Assistance, a company that provides protection to cardholders against frauds. On losing their cards, customers may call the 24-hour toll-free helpline of CPP Assistance, which would block the card immediately. The cards would be protected against fraud from a period of seven days prior to the date of loss, up to INR0.1m. Similarly, a fraud protection cover of up to INR2m after notification of card loss is also applicable.

The scheme applies to a range of cards such as debit, credit and ATM cards.
