HPL new cricket season for kickoff.

THE Hidd Premier League (HPL) organising committee hosted a ceremony to announce the start of the HPL 2011 cricket season, which is now set for January 28.

The League was officially announced by its board members at the opening ceremony held at Sagar Restaurant in Manama.

This is the fourth consecutive year HPL is organising the league and it has gained a lot of support from all the cricket-playing fraternities in Bahrain.

The ceremony was attended by members of all the participating teams and was addressed by board members Nabil, Abhimanyu, Naushad and Sameer.

Captains of Swat team Michael Vaz and Spartans Madhavan were honoured to cut the opening ceremony's cake.

During the 2011 season's opening ceremony, the draw also took place where the 24 participating teams were divided into four groups.

Among teams in the fray are Fog Printing Services, Al Jazeera, Super Kings, Global Metals, Royal Nights Cricket Team, Ramee 11, Bombay Boyz, Manglore Boys, Mass Computers, Shaheen Group and Standard Charter Bank.

Other squads are High Land, Sahara Bahrain, Jai Maharashrta 'B', Spartans, Swat, Micro Tech Kerla Cobras, Al Amin, Riffa Cricket Club, Indian Star, Bahrain Challengers, Awal Star, Jai Maharashrta 'A' and Konkan Cricket Club.
