HOWARD PASTER NAMED CHAIRMAN AND CEO OF HILL AND KNOWLTON

NEW YORK, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Hill and Knowlton Inc. announced today the appointment of Howard Paster, who recently resigned as Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, as chairman and chief executive officer.
Paster, 48, will also serve as chairman of Hill and Knowlton's executive committee. His appointment is effective as of January 1.
Before joining the Clinton-Gore transition team last December, Paster served briefly as head of the Washington office of Hill and Knowlton. He became President Clinton's chief Congressional lobbyist at the start of the new administration in January.
Paster resigned his White House position last month for personal reasons.
In his new position, Paster will maintain an office in Washington as well as New York, but he reiterated that he will not lobby the federal government after leaving the White House on December 31.
Thomas E. Eidson will remain as President and CEO of Hill and Knowlton U.S.
Tom Hoog, who succeeded Paster as general manager of the Washington office and as chairman of Hill and Knowlton Public Affairs, would continue in those positions.
Prior to joining Hill and Knowlton, Paster worked for 12 years for Timmons and Company Inc., a Washington lobbying and government relations company, rising to the position of chairman.
Both Timmons and Hill and Knowlton are members of WPP Group plc, one of the leading advertising and marketing services companies in the world.
Before joining Timmons, Paster was a staff member of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and later chief lobbyist for the United Auto Workers Union.
He is a graduate of Alfred University and holds a Masters degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism.
Hill and Knowlton Inc. is a leading international public relations and public affairs counseling firm, based in New York with 55 offices in 27 countries.
