HOWARD GITTIS APPOINTED TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF JONES APPAREL GROUP
 NEW YORK, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Jones Apparel Group, Inc. (NYSE: JNY) announced today at its annual meeting that Howard Gittis has been elected to the board of directors.
 Gittis is the vice chairman and chief administrative officer of MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings, Inc., a diversified holding company with interests in consumer products, financial services, entertainment and publishing. As chief administrative officer, Gittis supervises all legal, financial and administrative aspects of the business. He also serves as the vice chairman and chief administrative officer, as well as director, to Revlon Group Inc., Andrews Group Inc., The Coleman Company and New World Entertainment. His other directorships include First Gibraltar Bank, FSB, PNC Financial Corporation, National Health Laboratories and Loral Corporation.
 Prior to joining MacAndrews & Forbes in 1985, Gittis was a partner with the Philadelphia law firm of Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen where he had served as chairman of the executive committee. His tenure at Wolf Block lasted more than 25 years and concentrated on general litigation, real estate and corporate acquisition, and divestiture work. In 1985 the National Law Journal listed Gittis among the 100 top attorneys in America.
 Gittis is a member of the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and is a trustee of Temple University. His dedication to both professional and community service has earned him numerous distinguished service awards, including the Eleanor Roosevelt Humanities Award.
 Gittis holds two degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, a B.S. in economics and an LL.B from the Law School.
