Now he is old enough to accompany his father to Vasser Lake to catch gefilte fish for his family's Shabbos (Sabbath) meal. The fish are biting, but Yussel cannot understand why none of the fish he has caught are round like gefilte fish. Papa reassures him, "Your mama can work miracles." Later, as Yussel enjoys the Shabbos meal, he is proud to have contributed to the peace and love of this special time. A glossary of Yiddish terms, and a recipe for making gefilte fish, are provided.
