HOW TO WRITE A LOVE NOTE YOUR VALENTINE WILL LOVE

DALLAS, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Just because love runs deep doesn't mean it's easy to pen those sweet sentiments to your valentine.
"Most people feel it's difficult and awkward to express their love in writing," says Dallas-based communications consultant Dianna Booher, "but there's no gift more appreciated than a personally written valentine or love note. It's something the recipient often will cherish and later keep in a box with other treasured mementos."
For those who struggle putting pen to paper, Booher offers the following valentine-writing tips. These and hundreds of other guidelines, suggested phrases, and models for writing personal and business letters are included in her book "The Complete Letterwriter's Almanac" (Prentice Hall; 354 pages; $34.95).
-- Be sincere. You don't have to be a novelist or poet to express words of love, you just have to write from your own heart and experience.
-- Prefer short sentences and simple words. Strong emotions such as love are most eloquent when expressed simply and directly.
-- Choose specific words and ideas rather than abstract ones. For example, instead of saying, "You are considerate," say, "You always remember to ask how I feel after I've had a tough day at work."
-- Use a conversational tone. Write as you would speak the thoughts.
