HOW TO QUIT SMOKING GURU HAS LUNG CANCER.
A MAN who made millions convincing people to give up smoking has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
Allen Carr, 73, had a 100-a-day habit but quit 23 years ago.
Since then, he has built a business empire on teaching people how to quit, with a best-selling book and clinics worldwide. Celebrities such as Charlotte Church, Sir Richard Branson and Sir Anthony Hopkins are among those who have used his techniques.
Mr Carr, married with four children and 11 grandchildren, was diagnosed last week. He said: "Since I stopped smoking I have been the happiest man in the world. I still feel the same way."
A spokesman added: "It is not possible to tell if Allen's cancer is linked to his previous addiction. Allen has spent years in smokefilled rooms since he quit, treating smokers for their addiction.
"He sees this as an opportunity to make his method even more recognised and widely available."
The former accountant developed his Easyway method of giving up smoking in 1983 and set up a clinic in South West London.
He now has 70 clinics in 30 countries, which treated 45,000 people last year.
Mr Carr has also given tips on stopping drinking and losing weight.
