 HOUSE OF FABRICS NAMES LYNCH CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
 SHERMAN OAKS, Calif., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Peter J. Lynch, 41,


has been named senior vice president-finance and administration and chief financial officer for House of Fabrics Inc. (NYSE: HF), Gary L. Larkins, president and chief executive officer, announced today. Lynch succeeds James Heaton, who has resigned as vice president- finance and administration and chief financial officer.
 Since May 1991, Lynch has served as executive vice president finance and corporate planning/chief financial officer, of STOR Furnishings International Inc., a division of IKEA, U.S. Inc. Immediately prior to joining STOR, he was executive vice president, finance, operations/chief financial officer for The Emporium, a division of Carter Hawley Hale Stores in San Francisco.
 Larkins commented: "It is a pleasure to welcome Peter Lynch to the House of Fabrics management team. He brings a broad experience with large retailing companies to the position that will help us as we continue to expand House of Fabrics, with our strategic focus on our large superstores. Furthermore, his knowledge of retail operations will be an added resource for our team."
 Lynch joined The Emporium in 1982, as vice president, loss prevention and a year later he was named senior vice president, controller. He served as executive vice president, finance/chief financial officer from 1986 to 1989. He was with Joske's Department Stores, a division of Allied Stores, form 1976 to 1982, and from 1977 to 1978 he was at another division of Allied, Cain Sloan Department Store. He began his career in retailing in 1973 at McCrory Stores, a division of Rapid American Corp.
 A 1973 graduate of York College of Pennsylvania, Lynch and his wife, Marianne, currently reside in San Marino, Calif., with their two sons.
 House of Fabrics Inc. is the nation's largest chain of company owned and operated retail fabric stores with 677 currently in operation.
