HOUSE OF FABRICS ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE PROMOTIONS

 SHERMAN OAKS, Calif., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- House of Fabrics (NYSE: HF) today announced the promotions of three members of its management team. Peter J. Lynch has been promoted to executive vice president-Finance and Administration. Doyle W. Parker has been named senior vice president-Buying and Paul A. Waalkes Jr. has been appointed vice president-Construction.
 Lynch, 42, has been with House of Fabrics since July 1992, serving as senior vice president-Finance & Administration. He has also served as chief financial officer, a post he will continue to hold. From May 1991 until he joined House of Fabrics, he was executive vice president, Finance and Corporate Planning/chief financial officer of STOR Furnishings International Inc., a division of IKEA, U.S. Inc. Immediately prior to joining STOR, he was executive vice president, Finance, Operations/chief financial officer for The Emporium, a division of Carter Hawley Hale Stores in San Francisco.
 Parker, 45, joined the company in March of this year as vice president-Craft Buying, after seven years at Wal-Mart Stores as craft buyer for that chain. From 1973 to 1986 he was employed by TG&Y Stores, beginning as a store manager, then spending five years as a regional fabric and domestic merchandiser for the chain, and finally five years as fabric/notion buyer. He began his retailing career in 1970, where he spent three years as a store manager for S.H. Kress Stores.
 Waalkes, 38, joined House of Fabrics in May 1992 as director of Construction. He has 15 years of experience in planning, design, construction and facilities management for retailers, including Wherehouse Records, Ross Dress for Less, Circuit City and The Good Guys.
 House of Fabrics Inc. is one of the nation's leading chains of company-owned and operated retail fabric stores with 685 currently in operation.
