HOUSE AUTRY MILLS ISSUES RECALL OF CERTAIN WHITE CORNMEAL PRODUCTS

 RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 24 ~PRNewswire~ -- A recall has been initiated for certain white cornmeal products manufactured by House Autry Mills, Inc. of Newton Grove, N.C.
 The meal contains aflatoxin in amounts over 20 parts per billion which exceeds U.S. Food and Drug Administration standards according to North Carolina Department of Agriculture food and drug protection officials.
 The Food and Drug Protection Division detected the contaminated products during routine testing of white cornmeal from the mill.
 The following House Autry cornmeal brands with the color codes found on the side of the bags should not be bought or eaten. Any persons having these brands with the described color codes should dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.

 In addition, no House Autry white cornmeal or white cornmeal products, such as breaders, should be consumed if they show the color codes listed above, regardless of the brand name. No other color codes are involved.
 "House Autry Mills, Inc. has agreed to voluntarily recall all products involved," said Robert L. Gordon, director of the the Food and Drug Protection Division. "This action will involve seven days production of white cornmeal products including various brands, sizes and breader mixes."
 Aflatoxin is a toxic substance which may be found in some grains. It is caused by a mold. The substance may be harmful to humans and livestock.
