 HOTLINE LINKS EXPORTERS WITH OVERSEAS MARKETS;
 NEW SERVICE TO BE UNVEILED IN CHICAGO ON TUESDAY, FEB. 25
 Embraced by President Bush as a way to jump-start the economy, exporting has been described as the key to survival for U.S. businesses that are faced with a shrinking domestic market and declining competitive position in world trade. But of the 11,000 companies in the United States in a position to export overseas, only one-fifth are actually doing it. The problem? They don't know where to start.
 As a way to help companies tap into expanding worldwide distribution networks, a group of leading multinational companies, including KPMG Peat Marwick and AT&T, is providing a free information service to U.S. businesses that want to learn more about overseas markets. By calling 800-USA-XPORT, callers can access market information on 58 key industries worldwide.
 How the Hotline Works: The hotline is a computerized database that contains up-to-date information on worldwide markets. Using a fax-back technology, the Export Hotline allows callers to use their fax machines to tie into the database. By calling the toll-free number, callers will receive a menu and codes on countries and industries of their choice. Callers then fax their information requests to the system and receive customized reports back on their fax machines within minutes.
 Press Briefing: Demonstrating the importance of exporting to U.S. manufacturers, in particular, a press briefing will be held during National Manufacturers Week. It is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the McCormick Center Hotel, Chicago, Room 14, Level 2.
 Featured Speakers: KPMG Peat Marwick, AT&T and the other corporate sponsors, including Berlitz International, Delta Air Lines and DHL Airways, along with media partners Cahners Publishing, Reed International and the Journal of Commerce. The press briefing will also feature a demonstration of the hotline.
 CONTACT and RSVP: Lisa Meyer of KPMG Peat Marwick, 201-307-7763.
