HOSPITAL BUS BACK ON THE ROAD.
Residents of Stockbridge Village campaigned for route 111 which runs from the area to Alder Hey Children's Hospital and Whiston Hospital.
The People's Bus company is now running the new service after winning the contract from Merseytravel, which in turn received funding from the Department for Transport.
Merseytravel qualified for funding from the DFT's sustainable transport fund which subsidises routes that a commercial operator would not necessarily take on.
Andrew Cawley, who runs the People's Bus, an independent operator based in Aintree, said: "There was a 111 many years ago. It's certainly a service that serves the community, after they campaigned for it."
