April 25, 1970 Royal Toss (10st) won the Whitbread Gold Cup under Richard Pitman, beating Charter Flight (10st 11lb) by six lengths with top-weight and favourite Spanish Steps (12st) only sixth. Royal Toss, a 20-1 shot, was trained by Taunton permit-holder and butcher Tim Handel. Arts And Letters (9st 2lb), the reigning US Horse of the Year, won the Grey Lag Handicap at Aqueduct under Braulio Baeza. This was the only race won by Paul Mellon's colt as a four-year-old.

Who am I? No wonder they've been fighting for my services. What with my record in both Guineas you'd definitely want me in the saddle.
