April 30, 1969 Right Tack, trained by John Sutcliffe and ridden by Geoff Lewis, won the 2,000 Guineas by two and a half lengths from Tower Walk, with Welsh Pageant third. Ribofilio, the favourite, ran abysmally and finished tailed off under Lester Piggott, but an official dope test proved negative.
Peter O'Sullevan's champion sprinter Be Friendly won the Palace House Stakes, and Pat Eddery scored the second victory of his career on Alvaro, who had also been his first winner six days before.
