 HORIZON HEALTHCARE ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF THREE SUBACUTE UNITS
 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Horizon Healthcare Corp. (NYSE: HHC) announced today the opening of subacute care units at three long-term care centers operated by the company in Ohio.
 These three highly skilled subacute units were formed by converting distinct wings of the facilities located at; Imperial Skilled Care Center; Horizon Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center located in Warren, Ohio; and Wyant Woods Care Center located in Akron, Ohio.
 The two units located in Warren create 24 subacute care beds and will specialize in ventilator care. The third unit comprises eight beds with a speciality program for wound care. The units will be operated by the company under its existing licenses.
 Commenting on the announcement, Neal Elliott, Horizon's chairman and CEO stated, "We are pleased to provide these additional services to patients with medically complex conditions requiring on-going nursing and medical supervision and access to specialized equipment. The development of these innovative programs, complement our core long-term care business. This brings the total number of subacute units operated by Horizon to five. This is an appropriate demonstration of our commitment to expanding our specialty services. We are carefully evaluating other Horizon nursing facilities to see where additional high margin programs such as these can be implemented."
 Horizon Healthcare, headquartered in Albuquerque is a leading provider of quality long-term healthcare which includes nursing homes, subacute hospitals, pharmacy services, rehabilitation and therapies, and Alzheimer care. As of June 3, 1992, the company operated 61 long- term care centers with a total of 6,102 beds, in seven states, two joint venture institutional pharmacies serving 9,550 beds, and National Institutional Pharmacy Services Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Horizon Healthcare providing institutional pharmacy services to 1,000 non-affiliated beds.
