HONEYWELL TO RECEIVE $70 MILLION IN SETTLEMENT OF UNISYS LAWSUITS

MINNEAPOLIS, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Honeywell Inc.(NYSE: HON) said today it will receive $70 million in settlement of lawsuits against the Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) and other parties in connection with Honeywell's 1986 purchase of the Sperry Aerospace Group.
Honeywell said a significant portion of the settlement will be received in the second quarter, with the balance paid over the next two years. The settlement will be recognized in the second quarter primarily as a reduction of the purchase price of the acquisition, with a portion to be used to offset previously incurred costs associated with the matter, Honeywell said.
Other terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Honeywell acquired the Sperry Aerospace Group in 1986 for $1.03 billion. The company filed suit in 1988 over issues stemming from the purchase.
Honeywell is a global controls company providing products, systems and services that increase comfort, environmental protection, energy conservation, productivity and safety in homes and buildings, industry, and aviation and space. The company employs 55,000 people in 90 countries on six continents.
