HONEYWELL ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS IN CORPORATE PUBLIC RELATIONS; DIRECTOR, MANAGER NAMED

    MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has announced the naming of Meta Gaertnier as the director of corporate public relations.  Gaertnier previously was director of communications for Honeywell's Home and Building Control business unit, based in Minneapolis.  She reports to Karen Bachman, Honeywell vice president, communications.  Her appointment was effective Oct. 18.
    Gaertnier is responsible for directing Honeywell's worldwide public relations strategy, managing the Corporate Public Relations Department and serving as the company's chief spokesperson.  She will serve as the company's principal liaison with the media.
    Honeywell also announced the appointment of Lynda Nordeen as manager of corporate public relations.  Nordeen reports to Gaertnier.  Nordeen is responsible for developing and implementing public relations programs at the corporate level and serving as back-up company spokesperson to the general news media.
    Gaertnier joined Honeywell in January 1991.  Prior to that, she was vice president of the technology sector for Burson-Marsteller in New York, a leading global public relations firm, and vice president of special situations for Hill and Knowlton in New York, where she specialized in crisis communications.  She was previously corporate relations manager for Hospital Corporation of America and a journalist with the Wichita (Kan.) Eagle, the Minneapolis Star, and the Waterloo (Iowa) Courier.
    Gaertnier received her bachelor's degree in English, with an emphasis in journalism, from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.
    Nordeen, who joined Honeywell in August 1993, previously was media relations manager with Children's Hospital of St. Paul.  Prior to that, she was director of public relations for Minneapolis Camp Fire.
    Nordeen holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in business communications from the University of St. Thomas.
