HONDA OF AMERICA TERMINATES PUBLIC HUNTING
AGREEMENT WITH OHIO DIVISION OF WILDLIFE
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Honda of America, which owns the Transportation Research Center (TRC) near East Liberty in Union County, has announced the termination of its public hunting agreement with the Division of Wildlife. As a result, public hunting on the research center area is no longer permitted.
Honda officials cite the reason for terminating its public hunting agreement is not because of their opposition to hunting, but because of further development of the land that has been open to the public.
In a letter to the Division of Wildlife, Honda of America senior vice-president Susan Insley stated, "Although Honda understands that public hunting and fishing on some of the TRC land is desirable, it is evident that it is no longer compatible with the safe use and development of the land."
Honda's TRC area has in past years received limited releases of ring-necked pheasants during the small upland game season. The area was a popular hunting location because of its proximity to Columbus.
