HONDA AND COLLINS & AIKMAN CELEBRATE 10 YEAR BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP

ALBEMARLE, N.C., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Collins & Aikman's (C&A) Automotive Division based here is the recipient of a special award from Honda of America. The award marks the 10th anniversary of their business relationship with the automobile manufacturer.
Collins & Aikman supplies molded floor carpets, trunk trim and interior trim parts for the Honda Accord two door, four door and station wagon models, manufactured in Marysville, Ohio. The company also exports carpet for the Honda Accord, Civic and Accura Integra models built in Japan.
Collins & Aikman's relationship with Honda began in 1976. Since that time the association has flourished. Six Collins & Aikman plants figure in the production of the Honda products, representing more than 2,000 employees in North Carolina. A special citation goes to the carpet fabrication plant at Old Fort, N.C. where the floor carpet and other components are formed.
The Marysville bound production is delivered on a just-in-time basis. Three trucks leave company plants each day, arriving at Marysville at 7 a.m. the next day.
"Our just-in-time delivery schedule is strong testimony to our dedication to our customers," says John Moose, president of C&A's Automotive Products Group. "Further evidence of our warm relationship with Honda of America is our participation in their guest engineering program. This program allows us to participate in the interior design of the car, yielding savings for both Honda and C&A," he says. Award ceremonies will be held at Albemarle and Old Fort, N.C.
Collins & Aikman's Automotive Division is a leading producer of upholstery, carpets and trim parts for the world's automotive industry.
