HOMEOWNERS WASH MILDEW AWAY, PRESERVE HOME'S VALUE AND APPEARANCE WITH MILDEW CHECK(R) MULTI-PURPOSE WASH

WINTERHAVEN, Fla., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Homeowners now have a new ally in the never-ending battle against unsightly mildew attacking their homes.
Those tired of using scrub brushes and elbow grease to wash away the damaging organism can turn to Mildew Check for a simpler, safer and more effective solution to the dingy, grey walls that can ruin a home's appearance and reduce property values.
The spray-on, rinse-off wash kills mildew and algae, removes the grey, purple or green blotches, and prevents mildew from recurring for more than twice as long as bleach and other traditional mildew remedies.
Studies show that mildew, which usually affects exterior walls with a northern exposure, is a problem in about 78 percent of U.S. homes. Mildew is especially prevalent in warm, humid locations like Florida.

Mildew does more than look dirty and dingy, it can damage exterior paint. Mildew imbeds itself in the paint film and the surface below can be exposed and susceptible to damage from the elements.
"Regular applications of Mildew Check can preserve the integrity of an exterior paint job and reduce the frequency of repainting," said Amy Leathers of PPG Architectural Finishes.
"Treatment with Mildew Check is also a good idea before adding a fresh coat of exterior paint," said Leathers. "If you paint over mildew, it just grows through the new coat of paint."
The National Paint and Coatings Association recommends killing all mildew organisms before repainting. Mildew Check is one of the most effective ways to kill mildew.
Ron Jerauld, merchandising manager at Scotty's, where Mildew Check is sold, agrees, calling mildew one of the most common and persistent causes of house paint deterioration in Florida.
"Mildew Check is the ultimate product for killing mildew and it lasts much longer than other remedies," stated Jerauld. "Whether repainting or just trying to preserve the beauty and appearance of their home, Mildew Check fits the bill for many of our customers."

Mildew Check is easy to use and has no foul odors. Simply add household bleach to the Mildew Check container's fill line, shake, and the wash is ready to go. Spray it on to an outside wall or deck -- Mildew Check is safe for bare or painted wood and cement, stucco, painted aluminum, or vinyl siding -- and wait 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with a garden hose.
Florida residents can find Mildew Check at all Scotty's locations.
