HOME SHOPPING NETWORK TO OFFER SUPER SPORTS COLLECTIBLES DURING SUPER BOWL PARTY WEEK, LIVE FROM ATLANTA

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Home Shopping Network (NYSE: HSN) announced today it will present special sports collectibles shows during Super Bowl week. The shows, set for Jan. 27-29, will be broadcast live from Frankie's -- Atlanta's premiere gathering place for celebrity athletes and sports fans.
"We're looking forward to being in Atlanta as the city prepares to host Super Bowl Twenty-eight," said Doug Bailey, president of Home Shopping Club, the core subsidiary of Home Shopping Network. "These remote broadcasts demonstrate our commitment to blend entertainment and shopping for our viewers -- a formula that has served us well through the years."
In addition to the wide array of collectibles that will be presented, a number of celebrity athletes are scheduled to appear -- among them Dan Marino and Mike Ditka.
Products will include a range of sports collectibles, including Super Bowl programs, autographed footballs and basketballs, signed lithographs and collector's cards. One-of-a-kind collectibles will be offered: Thursday's show will feature a Joe Montana jersey, Fridays a Michael Jordan jersey and Saturday a jersey from Shaquille O'Neal -- each autographed by the athlete and worn in a single game.
Visa is a sponsor of the event. Each order placed during the shows with a Visa card as payment will be discounted 5 percent.
"We are pleased to host the Home Shopping Club for these special collectibles shows during Super Bowl week," said Frankie Diesa, owner of Frankie's. "It will add a unique touch to our week-long festivities as we rev up with our town to host Super Bowl Twenty-eight."
Frankie's, a sports-theme restaurant, has become the new Atlanta mecca for traveling athletes -- such as Michael Jordan and Mickey Mantle -- and the fans who love them. Notable non-athlete guests have included actor David Keith ("An Officer and a Gentleman"), the "Voice of the Chicago Cubs" Harry Caray and Marla Maples Trump, wife of billionaire Donald Trump. Even sports fans who have not yet visited Frankie's will probably recognize the scenery during the shows -- Frankie's has been a remote broadcast site for ESPN's annual NFL draft show for two years running.
The decor, consisting of 1,300 pieces of sport memorabilia valued at more than $3 million, will provide an interesting backdrop for Home Shopping Club's shows. So will the crowds expected to cram into the 13,000 square-feet building and adjoining 12,600 square-feet tent being erected to accommodate the week's festivities leading up to Super Bowl XXVIII. Patrons also won't have to miss a single play while they shop during the HSC collectibles show -- a chief charm of Frankie's is the 150 television sets fed by 10 satellites that provide non-stop sports.
 Show times for Home Shopping Club's remote broadcasts are: Thursday, Jan. 27 on HSC1 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.; Friday, Jan. 28 on HSC2 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.; and Saturday, Jan. 29, HSC1 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.
(NOTE: Viewers receive HSC1 if the toll free number at the bottom of the screen is 800-284-3100; HSC2 if it is 800-284-3200.)
