HOME SHOPPING NETWORK TO ESTABLISH NEW YORK OFFICE

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Home Shopping Network, Inc. (NYSE: HSN) announced today that it will open an office in New York City to be staffed by senior merchandising executives whose expertise centers on fashion, jewelry and hardgoods retailing.
The creation of a New York office is an integral part of HSN's pledge to strengthen the capabilities of its core business, the Home Shopping Club, Inc. With the introduction of a new management team last spring, Gerald F. Hogan, president and chief executive officer of HSN, stated HSN's commitment to improving merchandising, quality and services of the Club.
Hogan said, "HSN's New York presence will bring our representatives closer to current and new vendors, putting us in a better position to take advantage of industry trends and opportunities. Our goal is to become as well known as leaders in merchandising as we are as developers of high-tech transactional systems."
Hogan said Doug Bailey, president of Home Shopping Club, and Joe Isola, senior vice president of purchasing, will oversee development and staffing of the New York office, which is targeted to open before the end of the year. Resumes may be faxed to the company's human resources department at 813-572-5801.
