HOME SHOPPING DEBUTS HOLIDAY SATISFACTION COMMITMENT

HOME SHOPPING DEBUTS HOLIDAY SATISFACTION COMMITMENT
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Home Shopping Club,

Inc. (HSC), a subsidiary of the Home Shopping Network, Inc. (NYSE: HSN), announced that it has kicked off its traditional holiday shopping season with an innovative, three-point commitment to its club members.
The Holiday Satisfaction Commitment was developed by HSN to give its customers some extra breaks this holidays season as they deal with the current economic climate.
First, the commitment calls for Home Shopping to institute an unprecedented shipping and handling fee of only $3.95, in effect until the end of the holiday season.
A standard, low-priced shipping and handling fee on each package is a significant advantage for Home Shopping Club members and a first for electronic retailing. Only customers requesting special air delivery shipments and other limited special cases will bear shipping and handling charges higher than $3.95.
Lower shipping and handling charges make it even more attractive than ever for HSC customers to do their holiday shopping from the comfort of home and skip the crush of mall crowds and jammed parking lots.
Second, Flex-Pay -- a new deferred payment plan that allows shoppers to pay for items in monthly installments designed to make high-ticket items more accessible to Home Shopping customers.
Third, Home Shopping is extending its no-questions-asked return policy, allowing customers to return holiday purchases until Jan. 31, 1993. This policy extends the standard 30-day guaranteed return policy up to a maximum of 90 days.
Citing America's tough economic times, Jim Lawless, president of the Home Shopping Club, unveiled the Holiday Satisfaction Commitment on spots that began airing on Home Shopping programming in October.
"We want viewers to know we understand their need to look for the best available bargains, especially today. Our customers are smart, value-minded shoppers, and I hope they'll be pleased with our plan. Together, we'll share a bright holiday season," Lawless said.
