HOME SHOPPING AND SPRING AIR TO SPONSOR VANNA WHITE APPEARANCE
AT ORLANDO OUTLET STORE AND PRESENT GIFT TO HOMELESS SHELTERS
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Home Shopping Network, Inc. (NYSE: HSN) and Spring Air Mattress Company announced today that entertainer Vanna White will make a special appearance at the new Home Shopping Club Outlet Store in Orlando, Fla. on June 4, 1992, at 6:30 p.m. She'll participate in a presentation of 100 pieces of bedding and 100 pillows, valued at more than $15,500 to the area's Coalition for the Homeless and visit with fans. The store, in Sam's Trail Plaza, 9404 S. Orange Blossom Trail, is one of four outlets operated by HSN's subsidiary, Home Shopping Club Outlets, Inc.
Bradley Minnen, vice president of HSC Outlet Stores; Edward Salomon, vice president, Spring Air Mattress Co. of Orlando; and Vanna will present the bedding and pillows to Ron Pecora, chairman of the Coalition and City Commissioner Frankee Hellinger. With its gift of pillows to Orlando's Coalition for the Homeless, Home Shopping plays a role in Spring Air's nationwide commitment to extend a helping hand to homeless people with donations of bedding to select social services organizations. Spring Air and its co-sponsors have, to date, donated approximately $300,000 worth of bedding and gifts.
After the Outlet presentation ceremony, Vanna will chat with visitors and autograph 8x10 glossy prints of herself for the first 300 people who come to the store.
Minnen said, "I'm pleased that Vanna's visit to our store will be coupled with such a significant contribution in support of the Coalition for the Homeless. The work of such organizations is vital to the communities they serve.
"I know Outlet visitors will be delighted to meet Vanna, and I think they'll be pleased that a large inventory of Vanna's products will be in stock, including a generous supply of her popular Vanna doll."
Salomon said, "We salute the Coalition for the Homeless' outstanding community social services. Its programs are designed to allow people to deal effectively with their problems and get back on their feet. In doing so, the quality of life in Orlando is significantly enhanced.
"Spring Air-Orlando has always recognized that companies are integral members of their communities. We welcome the opportunity to match our product to an existing need in our city."
Vanna, known for her girl-next-door charm, became familiar to millions of Americans as the glamorous co-star on TV's enduring hit game show, WHEEL OF FORTUNE, and is also known as Spring Air's spokeswoman. And, of course, she's a favorite of shoppers coast-to-coast as a regular guest show host on the Home Shopping Club (HSC). Club members love Vanna's fashions, shoes, jewelry and line of Vanna dolls sold exclusively on HSC.
"I'm pleased to be able to join with Home Shopping and Spring Air in helping the Coalition give some comfort to people in need. I'm excited about being at the Outlet and hope I'll have the chance to meet in person many of the friends I've made on the air and make some new friends too," Vanna said.
HSC Outlet Stores offer shoppers a wide variety of quality merchandise -- fashions, jewelry, watches, collectibles, electronic items, handbags, giftware, and more -- at deeply discounted prices.
The Orlando store is the largest of the Home Shopping outlets. It serves the southern Orlando-Kissimmee area and is easily accessible to tourists visiting the area's major vacation spots. Other stores are in Casselberry, Clearwater and Tampa.
