HOME OF MIGHTY DUCKS TO BE CALLED ARROWHEAD POND OF ANAHEIM

ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- It's now official. The home of the National Hockey League expansion team, The Mighty Ducks, will be called Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim.
In a joint announcement by The Walt Disney Company, the Perrier Group of America, the City of Anaheim and Ogden Entertainment Services, Arrowhead Spring Water was named title sponsor of the arena.
By way of toasting the occasion, Arrowhead executives added some Mountain Spring Water to the skating ice.
Arrowhead also will be a sponsor of The Mighty Ducks, owned by Disney.
Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water, distributed in the western United States, is the nation's largest selling bottled water. It is owned by The Perrier Group of America, a unit of Nestle S.A., which has a strategic partnership with Disney and whose products are featured at Disney theme parks.
"The Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim will quickly become part of the sports lexicon," said Michael Eisner, Disney chairman and chief executive. "This is a natural fit. Even the words Arrowhead and Pond sound as if they belong together.
"Arrowhead's reputation as America's leading producer of bottled water is unsurpassed and we are proud to be associated with them."
Added Tony Tavares, president of The Mighty Ducks, "We welcome Arrowhead as a sponsor of our team. Their enthusiasm for The Mighty Ducks and the Pond is terrific. This is an excellent partnership."
Jeffrey Caso, vice president of marketing for The Perrier Group, said, "We're excited to begin a long, mutually rewarding association with Disney, The Mighty Ducks, the City of Anaheim and Ogden Entertainment Services. A great sport like hockey is a natural tie-in for Arrowhead. We've been a part of California's active lifestyle since 1894, and look forward to kicking off our 100th year with these new affiliations."
The recently opened arena is owned by the City of Anaheim, whose mayor, Tom Daly, said, "This is a great example of a public-private partnership. The city and private enterprises are working together for the common good. This sponsorship will provide enhanced financial stability for the arena operations. Everyone comes out a winner here."
Ogden Entertainment Services executive Brad Mayne, general manager of the arena, said, "As managers and operators of this superb facility, we join the City of Anaheim, Disney and The Mighty Ducks in welcoming Arrowhead as another winning member of our highly successful arena team and look forward to working with them for many years."
The Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim is California's premier sports and entertainment complex. Featuring marble floors, glass archways, excellent sight lines and modern technology, the arena represents a new generation of entertainment venues.
The Mighty Ducks have been holding pre-season exhibition games since Sept. 18. Their first official game of their first season will be played at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim on Oct. 8 against the Detroit Red Wings.
