HOME GAMES A MASSIVE COO.

Byline: PAT NOLAN

BY PAT NOLAN CONOR COONEY hopes Galway will have home games in the Leinster Championship for the first time in 2018 following this Saturday's Special Congress.

Although the Central Council proposal, which would see the race for the Liam MacCarthy Cup restricted to just 10 teams, has drawn criticism from lower ranking counties, the round robin format in Munster and Leinster does have a certain level of support.

It would guarantee All-Ireland champions Galway two home games in Leinster and Galway star Cooney, who was named of Pwc Player of the Month for July (above), said: "I'd be delighted if that passed.

"If you'd Kilkenny coming up to Pearse Stadium, you'd get a packed house, it'd be fantastic. We have contributed to the Leinster Championship and it'd be fair if we got a few home games."
