HOME DEPOT TO JOIN MERCHANTS CROSSING SHOPPING CENTER

 ATLANTA, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Abrams Properties, Inc. announced today that its subsidiary, Merchants Crossing of North Fort Myers, Inc., has closed on the sale of an 11.51-acre retail site within the Merchants Crossing Shopping Center in North Fort Myers/Cape Coral, Fla., to Home Depot, U.S.A.
 Home Depot (NYSE: HD) will commence construction immediately on an 132,000-square-foot super store, with the store opening planned for early 1994.
 Merchants Crossing, a 555,000-square-foot shopping center development at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 41 and Pine Island Road (S.R. 78), serves the North Fort Myers and Cape Coral trade areas of Lee County, Fla. Many of the stores within the shopping center's first phase have recently opened for business. The Home Depot joins Kmart, Food Lion, Beall's Department Store, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Fashion Bug, Famous Footwear and Shoe World as an anchor for the shopping center. The new Merchants Crossing location will be Home Depot's second store in Lee County. Abrams Properties, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Abrams Industries, Inc.
