HOLMAN LEAVING CARTER HAWLEY HALE

 LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc. (NYSE: CHH) today announced that Ed Holman, vice chairman and chief operating officer, is leaving the company as a result of a management reorganization, effective Nov. 1.
 Holman was named to his current position earlier this year after serving as executive vice president operations since 1991. From 1985 to 1991 he was senior vice president operations.
 "Ed was a steadying influence on the organization over the past six months as we transitioned to new management and began putting in place our strategic program," said David Dworkin, president and chief operating officer. "We wish him good luck in his future efforts."
 Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc. is one of the leading operators of full-line department stores in the Western United States with annual sales in excess of $2.1 billion. It operates 83 department stores under the names of The Broadway, Emporium, and Weinstocks.
