HOLLISTER BRINGS NEW LEADERSHIP TO MEI SALONS MINNEAPOLIS, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Gary Hollister, a 25-year
veteran of the beauty and fashion industry, has been tapped to realize the potential of the merger that brought together under one roof the three largest players in the in-store beauty salon business.
Glemby's, Maxim's and Essanelle (the former Seligman & Latz salon operation) are part of a combined operation called MEI Salons. The company operates 2,000 beauty salons in the 110 leading department and specialty store groups and mass merchandisers in the United States and Canada. The company has operated as MEI-Regis Salon Corporation for the last 18 months. MEI Diversified, the majority owner of the prominent in- store salon company, has installed a new management team following an outside consultant's study and recommendations. Previously, MEI Salons was managed by a subsidiary of Regis Corporation. MEI Salons will maintain key operations management, with the addition of Hollister, the new president and chief executive officer. "This is a business with exciting potential," said Hollister, the former president of Merle Norman Cosmetics. "With 2,000 beauty salons, some 14,000 stylists and 53 million customer transactions each year, we are far and away the largest and most prominent player in the beauty salon industry."
