HOLLAND AMERICA LINE-WESTOURS INC. MARKS FIFTH CONSECUTIVE RECORD SEASON
 IN ALASKA FOR 1992
SEATTLE, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Holland America Line-Westours Inc. announced its 1992 Alaska cruisetour season set the company's fifth consecutive record for number of passengers carried.
 A. Kirk Lanterman, president and chief executive officer, announced that the company carried 109,144 passengers on Alaska cruises and cruisetours during the season, which concluded at the end of September.
This figure represents a 5.4-percent increase over the number of Alaska cruise and cruisetour passengers carried in 1991.
"Our achievement of our fifth record Alaska season was due to the addition of recent product enhancements, such as our 17 exclusive state- of-the-art Alaska-Yukon Explorer loungecoaches, as well as aggressive marketing efforts in the face of a tenacious recession," said Lanterman.
"We're optimistic for the 1993 season as Alaska continues to be one of the hottest vacation destinations. In fact, a recent travel agent poll identified Alaska as a primary vacation choice for next year," he continued.
"Alaska offers spectacular natural beauty, wildlife viewing and a frontier atmosphere for an affordable combination that's just about unbeatable," said Lanterman.
Holland America Line-Westours Inc. offers an expanded slate of 74 cruise departures for the 1993 Alaska season, plus new attractions such as new early-season Mayfest cruises, naturalist-escorted "eco-cruisetours," new cruisetours featuring a visit to a wilderness lodge, and new theme cruises featuring square dance, photography and financial planning.
Next year marks Holland America Westours' 45th year conducting Alaska tours. During that period, the Seattle-based company has become the largest and highest-rated cruisetour company in the Great North.
