 HOLIDAY MAGIC FILLS THE AIR
THROUGHOUT WALT DISNEY WORLD VACATION KINGDOM
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Walt Disney World guests will be making memories this holiday season when carolers croon, reindeer dance and towering trees twinkle with 1991 seasonal magic at the Walt Disney World Vacation Kingdom.
Special holiday shows, treelighting ceremonies and other seasonal treats are part of the festivities that begin with the winter holidays and continue through year's end.
You'd Better Watch Out for Dec. 3
Disney elves work throughout the eve of Dec. 2 and into the wee hours of the next morning to magically transform the Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center and Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. When guests step through park gates Dec. 3, they'll find towering fir trees studded with lights and ornaments, animated shop windows and beribboned lampposts.
 Seasonal "Surprises" Abound
On Christmas Day, the "Walt Disney World Very Merry Christmas Parade" will be broadcast live on ABC from 10 a.m. to noon (EST), hosted by Joan Lunden and Regis Philbin and featuring all the excitement of Disney's 20th anniversary celebration.
Other Magic Kingdom seasonal celebrations include:
"Surprise Celebration," the "biggest, best parade in 'World' history" and featuring a holiday twist from Dec. 21-31 as "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade."
Towering 35 to 40 feet above the Magic Kingdom's Main Street, U.S.A., a cast of larger-than-life inflated Disney characters -- including carnival jester Roger Rabbit -- herald festivals from regions of the world in "Surprise Celebration." Adding a holiday touch are toy soldiers, dancing trees and snowmen and a lineup of floats featuring Santa Claus and popular Disney characters.
"SpectroMagic," a moving gallery of light, music, color and mechanical animation in Disney's best-ever nighttime parade, Dec. 1-5, 9-12, 15-17, 20-23, 25-30. The high-tech light show portrays the magical worlds of Disney -- music, wonder, fantasy and dreams.
 Treelighting ceremonies, beginning Dec. 3.
"Disneymania" performances -- with some of the newest Walt Disney characters as well as familiar favorites in this magical, musical show featuring the Kids of the Kingdom -- at Cinderella Castle through Dec. 7.
"Sparkling Christmas Spectacular" at Cinderella Castle Dec. 13 and 14, and Dec. 21 through 29 -- an elaborately choreographed musical that stars a "Goofy" Santa Claus with a cast of 300.
"Miss Minnie's Country Christmas" on the Fantasyland Stage Dec. 21-26 and Dec. 29-31. Minnie, Mickey and Melvin the Moose join other Disney characters in a song-and-dance salute to the holidays.
"Mickey's Starland Show" introducing "Darkwing Duck" from The Disney Afternoon series and also starring Scrooge McDuck, Chip and Dale and other cartoon favorites -- opens Dec. 21 for the season.
"Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks and "Tinker Bell's Flight" Dec. 21-23 and 25-31.
 Seasonal "Splendor" Returns
Stage star Carol Lawrence returns to the America Gardens Theater beginning Dec. 20 for "Holiday Splendor."
A song and dance celebration of winter holidays worldwide. "Holiday Splendor" performance times are: Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m.; Dec. 21-23 at 6:30 and 8 p.m.; and Dec. 25-30 at 6:15, 7:45 and 9 p.m.
Tree-lighting ceremonies featuring the Voices of Liberty and Brass Ensemble are staged nightly at Epcot Center. Also:
"Surprise in the Skies," with colorful boats, delta-wing kites, paraplanes, vivid daytime fireworks and 45-foot-high inflatable Disney characters plus "live" characters, Dec. 1-4, 7-11, 14-18, 21, 23-31.
"IllumiNations," a nighttime spectacle of lasers, lights, fireworks and dancing fountains accompanied by symphonic music, with shows nightly over the World Showcase Lagoon.
Decking the Studios with a '30s Holiday Look
Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park dresses up for the '30s and '40s with traditional bubble lights and a sleek replica of the Silver Streak train that chugs along a track beneath the towering tree outside the Chinese Theater. The zany crew of Streetmosphere characters who make their home along Hollywood Boulevard participate in the nightly tree-lighting ceremony. Also throughout the holidays:
"Dinosaurs Live!" daily performances, based on the hit ABC-TV show "Dinosaurs," along Hollywood Boulevard.
"Beauty and the Beast" stage show performances daily at the studios' Theater of the Stars. Based on Disney's 30th animated feature, "Beauty and the Beast," released Nov. 22, this powerful stage show stars Belle, the Beast and other characters from the movie.
"Muppets on Location" daily shows on the Central Park Backlot.
"Sorcery in the Sky" fireworks Dec. 7, 14, 21-23, 25-31.
