HOLIDAY INN WORLDWIDE TAPS SENIOR BASS STRATEGIST
 TO MANAGE EUROPE/MIDDLE EAST/AFRICA REGION
ATLANTA, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Holiday Inn Worldwide today announced that Tim Clarke, formerly director of Strategic Planning for Bass PLC, has been appointed to succeed Alan Parker as executive vice president and managing director of the Europe/Middle East/Africa region, based in Brussels, with effect from today.
Clarke will join the board of Holiday Inn Worldwide, and be a member of the executive committee, also with effect from today.
Clarke, 35, will report directly to Bryan Langton, chairman and chief executive officer of Holiday Inn Worldwide.
Clarke joined Bass in 1990 to lead strategic planning in the Bass Taverns division, with specific responsibility for devising the strategy to comply with the mandatory regulations to restrict pub ownership imposed by the UK Government. He was subsequently appointed director of Strategic Planning for Bass PLC.
"We are delighted to have an executive with Tim's business focus and leadership skills at the helm of our EMEA region," Langton said. "His work with Bass Taverns and Bass PLC has demonstrated that he is able to execute, as well as articulate, strategy."
Over the past year, Clarke has worked closely with Langton and the board of Holiday Inn Worldwide to map out the hotel chain's international development strategy. His new responsibilities will focus on the implementation of that strategy, and, said Langton, "take advantage of the major growth opportunities we see for the Holiday Inn brand in the Europe/Middle East/Africa region".
Before joining Bass, Clarke was a partner of Panmure Gordon & Co., a leading London stockbroking firm.
Holiday Inn Worldwide is the world's leading hotel brand with nearly 1,700 hotels and 330,000 guest rooms in 54 countries and territories around the world.
